A guard in a hospital in the western part of Afghanistan's capital Kabul opened fire killing three foreign doctors and injuring another Thursday, the country's interior ministry said in a statement released here.
"As a result of spraying of bullets by a guard of Cure Hospital in Kabul's 6th Precinct, three foreigners were killed and a female health worker injured," Xinhua quoted the ministry statement as saying.
However, it did not identify the nationalities of the victims, saying investigation has been initiated into the case.
Meanwhile, police have cordoned off the area and have not allowed journalists access to the site of the incident which took place at 9:50 a.m.
The attacker was also injured, according to the interior ministry statement.
Cure Hospital, which has been supported by foreign aid agencies, has been providing free medical treatment for patients, particularly those suffering from tuberculosis, over the past decade.
