Voting begins in Assam

Voting for five Lok Sabha seats in Assam began Monday, marking the first phase of India's national election, officials said.

An estimated 6.4 million people are eligible to vote in Tezpur, Jorhat, Kaliabor, Dibrugarh and Lakhimpur constituencies.
