The outbreak of scams – the Commonwealth Games, 2G spectrum, Adarsh Housing Society, fuel adulteration and so on – has prompted various parent-teacher organisations in Mumbai to hold special informal sessions to consider whether the topic of corruption should be introduced as part of students’ moral education. These discussions are being held to figure out whether the teaching community should suggest that the state government formally includes this in the official school curriculum. The suggestion may sound far-fetched, but the fact that such discussions are being held at all should tell the government something.
