Last week when Bengal Finance Minister Amit Mitra was in the capital to plead for a financial package for the state; he persistently refused to field questions from the media. When hounded by a journalist, an exasperated Mitra shot back, “There is an essential difference between being the Secretary General of Ficci [his former post] and being the finance minister of West Bengal; You do not speak!” That would, hopefully, explain Mitra being tongue-tied this past one year.
