BJP doesn't know what development means: Rahul

Development does not mean only construction of roads and similar things but it means that people should get the respect they deserve, he said

Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi today attacked BJP alleging that the saffron party does not know what "true development" means.

Addressing 'Parivartan' (change) rally of the Congress at the Mela grounds here, Rahul said, "BJP does not really understand what the true development means.

"Development does not mean only construction of roads and similar things but it means that people should get the respect they deserve," he said, adding that people of Madhya Pradesh would get the respect which is due to them if the Congress came to power after November elections.

Without naming Narendra Modi, who lays a lot of stress on development, Rahul said a lot was being said about the development but it will take place automatically if youth were represented in legislatures in sufficient numbers.

More and more youths should be brought to legislatures, he said.

Congress General Secretary Digvijay Singh said, "The BJP believes in looting the people while the Congress only thinks of giving them something."

Union Minister Kamal Nath claimed that number of industries that closed down in Madhya Pradesh in the last ten years during BJP rule was greater than that of the new industries that came up.

Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, who is chairman of Madhya Pradesh Congress Poll Campaign Committee, said BJP government made tall promises but never fulfilled them.
