"Going to the media will not help the growth of Congress. Constructive ideas should be taken up with the high command," Vasan said while talking to reporters here.
On May 29, Karti Chidambaram, former MP KS Alagiri and several other loyalists of P Chidambaram alleged that the party was handed down "an unexpected defeat," in TN as the state leadership had not been "functioning properly."
Saying that the state president was responsible for the defeat, they demanded that B S Gnanadesikan should quit as Tamil Nadu Congress Committee (TNCC) president.
Soon, several TN Congress functionaries who are loyalists of leaders including G K Vasan, EVKS Elangovan and Gnanadesikan teamed up against Chidambaram alleging that he "failed to rein in price rise" which was a key reason for the party's debacle.
Against this background, Vasan today said that the party would ascertain the true reasons for the defeat and take appropriate measures for the party's growth.
Pointing out that his party would function as a responsible opposition party, he questioned the ordinance route
opted by BJP to appoint former TRAI chairman Nripendra Misra as the Prime Minister's Principal Secretary.
Referring to the row over Article 370, he said its abrogation "would put the minorities in fear" and urged the Centre to rather focus on growth issues.
