1 killed, 1 hurt as water tanker hits women at Dwarka North

A woman was killed while another sustained serious injuries after they came under the wheels of an overspeeding water tanker in south-west Delhi's Dwarka North area, police said today.
Victim Kausi Devi (55) was sitting on the roadside, along with other women, near her residence at Sector 17 at around 9.45 pm yesterday when the accident occurred, said a police officer.
The tanker, headed towards Dwarka North police station from the community centre, hit the women, grievously injuring Kausi Devi and one of her relatives, Jyoti, he added.
The locals managed to catch hold of the driver of the tanker, Vinod Kumar Yadav.

Police reached the spot following a PCR call and rushed the injured to a nearby hospital where Kausi Devi was declared dead. Jyoti was undergoing treatment at the hospital, said the officer.
