15-year-old boy killed by classmate

A class IX student was allegedly murdered by his classmate with a sharp-edged weapon in a village here following an altercation, police said today.
Gurmeet Singh (15), a resident of Mahabadar village, had left his house on Monday evening to collect a book from his friend when he met his classmate and namesake, Gurmeet alias Babu, on the way, they said.
The two got into a fight over some matter during which the accused attacked the victim with a sharp-edged weapon, leading to his death.
Police said Babu threw Gurmeet's body in nearby fields from where the body was recovered yesterday.

A murder case has been registered on the complaint of the victim's father and a search has been initiated against the accused, who is absconding, they said.
