Two men were arrested for allegedly duping people on the pretext of providing them government jobs, police said Wednesday.

The accused were identified as Khushi Mohammad alias Amit Yadav (25), a resident of Kota in Rajasthan and Arjun Singh (36), resident of Kalyanpuri in Delhi.

The Delhi Police's Crime Branch received information about a fake job recruitment racket running at Tri Nagar.

"They also had a website where they used to publish fake information about thousands of jobs," Additional Commissioner of Police (crime) Ajit Kumar Singla said.

"The Ministry of Agriculture ruled out any such website being run by it. Thereafter, a raid was conducted and Mohammad and Singh were arrested," he added.

During interrogation, Mohammad said he had prepared forged documents of an NGO called 'Pandit Deendayal Kirshi Vikas Anusandhaan Sansthan' and Arjun was made the president of that NGO.

They had opened a bank in the name of the NGO, Singla said, adding that Mohammad had also purchased some fake SIM cards.

Through the fake website, the two men used to invite applications for various posts on behalf of the Ministry of Agriculture, he said.

The duo then asked applicants to remit Rs 200 to Rs 400 as processing fee.

Seventeen mobile phones, 11 SIM cards, five laptops, 50 stamps, 14 pan cards, one hard disk and several application forms were seized from their possession, the officer said.
