The victims have been identified as Himanshu Singh (13) and Manhit Kumar (14), police said, adding that while one of them was drowning, the other one tried to save him but also got drowned. The bodies were recovered by the swimmers of the Boat Club after about half-an-hour.
The victims were residents of Pradhan Enclave in Burari. They had gone for a morning walk with their friends, Saurabh and Shubham.
Their friends raised an alarm. The locals informed the police and subsequently, the rescue operations were launched but the duo had drowned by then.
Both the victims were students of Class IX in a government school.
