Chinese police have arrested 22 persons and recovered big stock of ketamine when they cracked down a major drug ring in Yulin City in south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.
A total of 1,199 kilograms of ketamine and a large amount of materials for manufacturing drugs were seized, local police said today.
In early 2014, police learned that drug dealers from Guangdong province were planning to produce drugs in Bobai County of Yulin City.
Interactions between drug dealers on both sides became more frequent in September 2015.
On October 15, police busted a meth lab in Yulin City, arresting eight suspects, with 1,199 kilograms of ketamine and more than two tonnes of drug-making materials seized.
Meanwhile, another 14 suspects were apprehended in Bobai County and the provincial capital, Nanning, state-run Xinhua news agency reported.
Drug trafficking is a felony in China. Those convicted of trafficking more than 50 grams of heroin can face capital punishment.
