A press release issued by the convener of the JAC, formed by about 22 representatives of civil society organisations and villages, decided to call the bandh against the passage of three bills in the Manipur assembly on August 31 terming them as anti-tribal and against the killing of nine protesters at Churachandpur.
The JAC appealed to all individuals and particularly transporters to support the bandh and warned that appropriate action would be taken up against those who violated their diktat, the release added.
Meanwhile, a 60-hour bandh is on at Churachandpur district from September 8 which has witnessed widespread arson and violence against passing of the bills.
