The government also announced names of six 'Uttam Jeevan Raksha Padak' and 28 'Jeevan Raksha Padak' winners for meritorious act of humane nature in saving the life of a person.
Khayingthei lost his life in 2012 when he jumped into a deep gorge in Ukhrul district to save life of his friends. He managed to save them but died in the process.
15-year-old Ramdinthara was also selected for the award posthumously. He had gone for swimming with his friends on March 31, 2012 when one of them fell into the water.
The third winner was Soumya Ranjan Biswal from Odhisa who sacrificed his life to save lives of other people.
The decoration of the award (medal, certificate signed by the Home Minister and demand draft for monetary allowance) is presented to the awardee in due course by the respective government of the state to which the awardee belongs.
The monetary allowance is Rs 1,00,000, Rs 60,000 and Rs 40,000 to the Sarvottam Jeevan Raksha Padak, Uttam Jeevan Raksha Padak and Jeevan Raksha Padak awardees respectively.
Gujarat's Tarang Atulbhai Mistry, now 19, was selected for Uttam Jeevan Raksha Padak. He had saved four persons from drowning in 2012.
The others selected for this award are Shaashwath Raj (Karnataka), Arjun Oli (Uttarakhand), Mukesh Nishad (Chhattisgarh) and Vishnu M V (Kerala).
