4 policemen injured in attack by villagers

Four policemen, including a Station House Officer, were today injured after some villagers allegedly attacked them with sticks when they went to arrest a criminal in Padri area here, police said.
A police team had gone to Rani Chaukia village this afternoon to arrest criminal Adalti Bind against whom warrant has been issued by a local court here, they said.
As the team arrested Bind, the villagers attacked the police party injuring police personnel Pannalal, Arvind, and Chottelal.
Later, the villagers attacked Paidapur police outpost, injuring SHO Tarkeshwar Rai and also set motorcycles on fire, police said.
In a bid to control the situation, police had to open fire in the air, they said.
Additional District Magistrate Devi Sharan Upadhyaya, who reached the spot, said that the probe would be conducted and action would be taken against the guilty.
