4200 complaints of child rights violation filed in 3 years

Authorities have received 4202 complaints in the last three years relating to violation of child rights, of which 1237 pertained to child abuse, the Lok Sabha was informed today.
Minister of State for Women and Child Development said in 2016-17 (till February, 2017), a total of 507 complaints were received by the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights. Out of these, 397 related to sexual abuse, 94 on child labour and 16 on child trafficking.
In 2015-16, 2014-15 and 2013-14 the total number of complaints were 215, 304 and 211 respectively, she said.
All the states and Union Territories have appointed nodal officers who are mandated to submit a monthly report to the NCPCR on such issues so that an effective coordination is maintained.
