"The cadres turned themselves in before senior police officials at Jagdalpur district headquarter," Inspector General of Police, Bastar Range, SRP Kalluri told PTI.
Of the surrendered, Mahesh Tati alias Hurra, deputy commander of Malangir Local Operation Squad (LOS) was reportedly held hostage by his colleagues for his execution branding him as cheater not loyal to banned movement, he said.
"As per his statement, Tati had managed to flee from the captivity of naxals before he surrendered," the officer said.
In his statement, Tati said that he along with four other senior cadres of the region- Badru, Hemla, Hemla's wife Kosi and Hinga were held hostage by cadres of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana in restive forest under limits of Aranpur police station of Dantewada district.
