8th southern naval command military photo winners announced

The winners of the 8th Southern Naval Command Military Photography being conducted at Press Club Ernakulam under the aegis of the Southern Naval Command and Press Club Ernakulam were announced today.
Sunoj Ninan Mathew, Senior Photographer of Deccan Chronicle Daily, won the Southern Naval Command award for the best photo exhibit, a Defence release said here.
The Venduruthy award for the first runner up has been won by EV Sreekumar, Malayala Manorama daily of the Kochi bureau.
The Garuda award for the second runner up has been won by Krishnapradeep P, Mathrubhumi Daily of Kozhikkode bureau.
The exhibits were assessed by a jury consisting of Commodore NAJ Joseph, Director, Maritime Warfare Centre (MWC), Kochi, Commodore Deepak Bansal, VSM, Commodore Superintendent of Naval Aircraft Yard, (NAY) Kochi and Captain Atul Nanda, Officer-in- charge of Diving School and the best three out of the 83 entries received from photo journalists from across the country for this years Military Photo Exhibition were selected.

The jury also selected Ashish K Vincent of the Times of India, Kochi for a consolation award.
The exhibition was inaugurated yesterday by CN Mohanan, Chairman, Greater Cochin Development Authority in the presence of renowned senior cine artist KPAC Lalitha.
The awards would be presented to the winners on December 1 by the Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief Southern Naval Command, Vice Admiral AR Karve, at Centre Square Mall.
