It is suspected that the killing last night of Sunil Pandit, a resident of Dwarka Sector-7, was a fallout of a personal rivalry.
The incident took place at around 10.40 PM when Pandit had reached Ramphal Chowk near his residence.
"Around two to three men came in a car and opened fire on him. He was shot thrice with one of the bullets entering his head," a senior police official said, adding that while Pandit succumbed on the spot, the assailants fled the scene.
"Locals said that there were three assailants. We are yet to confirm the facts and are trying to identify the accused. The body was sent for a post-mortem and later handed over to the deceased's family," the official said.
Police sources said that Pandit and three of his cousins are alleged to have shot down a man last year over a property dispute and it is suspected that there could be a revenge angle behind the murder last night.
