Mohammed Badsha Mohammed Ismail Ansari (30), arrested yesterday, was produced before a Magistrate Court at Bandra which remanded him to JC for two days.

Ansari is facing charges of forcing his entry into the flat of the victim, a 27-year-old musician, on Monday and allegedly raping her after robbing her at knife point.

Instead of seeking police custody which is a normal practice, the investigators asked for judicial custody saying they wanted to conduct identification parade immediately as the victim had expressed her desire to leave for her country at the earliest.

The accused, who has at least 20 cases registered against him at various police stations in the city, asked the Magistrate under what offence he had been arrested and what was the case against him.

The Magistrate then explained to him the charges under which he had been booked, to which the accused replied in Hindi -- "Maine kuch nahin kiya, yeh case galat hai (I have not done anything, the case is false)".

Seeking his remand, police said the accused was not cooperating with the probe and not divulging any information. He was a historysheeter and involved in many crimes, the remand application said.

Ansari has been booked for various offences including IPC sections 452 (house trespass), 392 (robbery), 376 (rape), 377 (unnatural sex) and 506 (criminal intimidation).

Ansari denied the allegations and said he had not committed any offence.
