"It can better be understood by the actors and for that matter the director to decide on the choice and use of words given in a particular sequence of a film," Pookutty, who was in Kolkata to attend a seminar on sound, told PTI.
His reaction was asked about the recent Censor Board move to ban a list of cuss words.
About British filmmaker Leslee Udwin's banned documentary 'India's Daughter' for which he had done sound designing, Pookutty said, banning a film would not solve the problem.
Pookutty, who rates Ritwik Ghatak as a mentor, said he was interested in doing Bengali films.
"I derived a lot from Bengal and like the works of Srijit (Mukherji), Buddhadeb (Dasgupta) and would love to do a film in Kolkata after being part of the latter's 'Anwar'.
