Markandan from Thondamuthur on the outskirts of the city, AIADMK branch secretary of Kalampalayam area there, had entered into a bet with some members of opposition parties that he would shave off his moustache if Jayalalithaa is granted bail by the Apex Court to prove his loyalty, party sources said.
The opposition members had also agreed to shave their moustaches if Jayalalithaa was not granted bail.
Jayalalithaa was released from prison in Bangalore today after 21 days in jail in the Rs 66.65 crore disproportionate assets case since September 27, 2014. Yesterday the Supreme Court had granted her conditional bail.
