The hostel will be able accommodate more than 360 persons.
"The aim is to provide a residing facility to the relatives or attendants of the patients admitted in AIIMS trauma centre and for those who come for a follow up treatment here.
"About 60 per cent of our patients at trauma centre come from neighbouring states and therefore there is an imminent need to provide them with the staying facility," said AIIMS director M C Mishra.
Power Grid Corporation donated Rs 2.9 crore today as the first instalment under their Corporate Social Responsibility to Jai Prakash Narayan Apex Trauma Centre AIIMS for the construction of the hostel.
AIIMS trauma centre at present does not have a staying facility for patient's attendants and they take shelter at the 'Dharamshala' located inside the main AIIMS which is usually over crowded.
The proposed budget for the construction of the budget is Rs 28 crores.
