With Yuki Bhambri and Somdev Devvarman still recovering from their respective injuries, India is set to field same set to players in the upcoming Davis Cup World Group Play-off against Spain, that beat South Korea 4-1 in July.
As Yuki and Somdev are unavailable for the September 16-18 tie against European powerhouse AITA has neither has the choice nor it needs to tinker with the team combination.
Saketh Myneni and Ramkumar Ramanathan will do the singles duty and legendary Leander Paes will yet again combine with Rohan Bopanna for the doubles rubber.
Paes and Bopanna had lost in the opening round of the Rio Olympics. It will be a humongous task for the Indian team to present a solid challenge to Spain, who boast 12 players in singles top-100.
Comparatively, none of India's singles player feature in top-100 with Myneni, at 143th, being the highest ranked player. It will be great for the fans if iconic Rafael Nadal comes to play, even as Spain do not require him to beat this Indian team.
Nadal has said that this tie is on his schedule after the soon-to-start US Open but his visit to India will depend on how he performs at the last Grand Slam of the season.
It means that if southpaw, winner of 14 Grand Slams, reaches the semfinaal stage, his chances to come here will be quite dim. The AITA selection panel is likely to announce the team tomorrow.
