Aizawl FC beats Hal SC 5-1 in Fed Cup

The club from North-East adopted aggressive posture right from the start and surged ahead through a brilliant goal off mid-fielder Michael Lalremruata in the 22nd minute.

Even as Aizawl players kept mounting pressure with accurate passes, the rival team donning green jersey put their act together and bounced back to score the equaliser through striker R C prakash three minutes later.

HAL team made a couple of close moves but in vain as the strong Aizawl team foiled their move and took control over the ball in most part of the proceedings.

In the 29th minutes, Aizawl defender K Lalrintluanga converted a measured crosspiece, putting the team into 2-1 lead at breather.

Rejuvenated North-eastern club players reground and dominated the proceedings after the play resumed in the second half.

Mid-fielder Johny Lalfakzuala increased the margin (3-1) for the Aizawl FC eight minutes into the second half while Lalrintluanga scored the brace in the 65th mintues. Striker Francis Zonuntlunga sealed the fate in favour of Aizawl team (5-1) netting a goal in the 87th minutes.

Earlier, Aizawl FC had suffered a 6-1 loss against Kolkata outfit Md Sporting in the opener of the qualifying round on Tuesday.
