Participating in a short-duration debate in the Rajya Sabha on the agrarian crisis, Sanjay Raut of Shiv Sena said, "Nowadays, in our country there is discussion about cow protection (gau raksha). We say it should be done, it is our religion, it is our duty... But our farmers are also dying... their families are dying. They are committing suicides.
"So, along with cow protection, we should also protect farmers. We should take care of their families. We should also think about this."
