Appu held in Tirupati in red sanders case

K G Swami alias Appu, one of the key accused in the 2004 Sankararaman murder case of Kancheepuram in Tamil Nadu and later acquitted, was today arrested on charges of smuggling red sanders, police said.
Appu (60), hailing from Chennai, was arrested by the CBCID police here on Friday in connection with excise cases at nearby Nellore during the general elections earlier this year.
After verification of crime records, police found his involvement in red sanders smuggling at Ramachandrapuram and Sri Kalahasthi near here, police said, adding he was arrested in the red sanders case too.
