An eyewitness today identified the main accused in the murder of a prime witness in the rape case against self-styled godman Asaram during an identification parade in the district jail.
Kartik Haldar, who is alleged to have killed Akhil Gupta (35) in the district on January 15, 2015, was arrested by the anti-terrorism squad of Gujarat in March last year.
Haldar, who is lodged in the Karnal jail in Haryana, was brought here on the directions of a local court.
The eyewitness identified Haldar during the identification parade held in the district jail under the supervision of Sub-Divisional Magistrate Kanhai Singh Yadav in the evening.
Meanwhile, Acting Chief Judicial Magistrate Jitender Singh today extended the judicial custody of Haldar till November 27.
