"In the next three years, we would employ about 12,000 people at entry level. This would be graduate engineers, diploma holders, MBAs and ITIs for our manufacturing units," Birla said at an event here.
He added that "jobs get created when you have growth, when it is sustainable and solid."
At present, the total employee base of the conglomerate stands at 1.1 lakh, he said.
With the group's entry into services businesses like telecom, the percentage of women in the employee base has now gone up to 30 per cent, he said, but added that the proportion of women in managerial roles may not be as much.
Birla said the group treats its women employees at par with others, in accordance with its belief of letting a person grow on merit and added that women have proved themselves with their hard work.
He said the conglomerate has never taken a decision not to enter any business due to shortage of talent, but is facing difficulties with specialist talent.
Birla cited the case of hiring 20 data scientists at the corporate centre where it is facing some difficulties.
