Bajwa prays for a 'better situation' in Punjab

Punjab Congress president Partap Singh Bajwa today said that the incidents of sacrileges in the state has resulted in "anarchy", as he prayed for peace at the Golden Temple in the midst of desecration acts and protests over pardon to Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh.
Bajwa was at the Golden Temple to offer prayers on the conclusion of 'Akhand Path' (continuous recitation of hymns).
He said that incidents of sacrilege of Guru Granth Sahib resulted in "anarchy" in the state with the highways being blocked for days over law and order situation.
He urged upon Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal to "introspect" as to why so many cases of sacrilege took place recently and why the intelligence set up has "utterly collapsed".

The people want to know as to who or which forces were behind these unfortunate incidents, he said.
Criticising the government for "miserable failure" of police in controlling the situation, Bajwa urged Badal to "scale down" his own security so that the police could be spared for law and order duties.

He claimed that over a battalion of security forces have been deployed for the security of the Badal family which is "unparallelled" in the country.
And despite this the Badal family was not in a position to enter villages, he alleged.
Bajwa termed as a "right step" the appointment of Suresh Arora as new DGP saying he "is an upright officer and will soon restore the chain of command which is absent in the force today".

Bajwa said the All India Congress President Sonia Gandhi and Vice President Rahul Gandhi were being apprised of the sensitive situation in the state every day.
Accompanied by AICC general secretary Shakeel Ahmad, he visited the families of the two persons killed in police firing at Behbal Kalan and also went around the area to understand the gravity of situation.
