A 12-hour bandh, called by ABVP, disrupted life in the Dooars area of the district today.
Several schools, colleges, shops and markets remained closed and vehicles did not ply in most of the areas, police said.
The bandh was called in protest against the alleged hooliganism by Trinamool Congress Chhatra Parishad on the cadres of ABVP on filing of nomination papers for students' union elections in several colleges in the area.
SFI, students'wing of CPI(M), supported the bandh.
