Banned tobacco seized from truck in Ghaziabad

A team of commercial tax department today unearthed a consignment of tobacco pouches worth lakhs of rupees in Mohan Nagar area here.
Officials seized tobacco in 20 bags, which were being brought to Muradabad via Ghaziabad in a truck from Delhi.
Assistant Commissioner, Commercial Tax Department Devesh Kumar Tiwari said that on a tip off that a truck loaded with banned tobacco was coming to Ghaziabad, officials laid a trap and intercepted the lorry near Mohan Nagar police post.
"Though the truck driver managed to escape, the helper was nabbed. We have seized banned tobacco which were kept in 20 bags," an official said.
