Best brains busy in solving problems of rich: Pitroda

The best brains in the world are busy in solving problems of the rich due to which issues of the poor do not get due attention, Sam Pitroda, Advisor to the Indian Prime Minister, has said.
"We have built a society all over the world which benefits only the rich," he said, adding that the best brains in the world are busy in solving problems of the rich "as a result problems of the poor do not get the kind of attention one needs."
There is no focus on inclusive growth, Pitroda said in his address to the fourth US-India Energy Partnership Summit.

Noting that 400 people in India are below poverty line, 300 million are illiterates, Pitroda said and the country is celebrating more and more billionaires.
"As a result enough talent does not go into affordability, sustainability and scalability," Pitroda said, adding that the world now needs a new model of development.
Former US Vice President and the champion of climate change, Al Gore in his address alleged that the present model of developments in countries like India and the US is unsustainable and resulting in growth of inequalities.
"Our measurement of growth, which is our proxy for progress, does not measure the distribution. In India and in the United States inequality is growing rapidly. It (growth) does not measure pollution. We use atmosphere as an open sewer," he said.
