Himachal Pardesh's ruling Congress today accused the BJP-led central government of trying to create political instability in the state by talking about early assembly polls.
Speaking at a rally here, PCC chief Sukhvinder Singh Sukkhu claimed the "cheap tactics" of BJP would not succeed in fooling the people and Congress would return to power after polls due late next year and win a clear majority.
Hitting out at former Chief Minister P K Dhumal and his son, Hamirpur MP Anurag Thakur, Sukkhu claimed that Hamirpur Medical College was not making any major headway due to a lack of interest by the Dhumals.
However, the party would press the Centre to start the college from the current academic year along with two other medical colleges at Chamba and Nahan, he said.
Attacking Thakurfor allegedly not pursuing railway projects for Hamirpur, he said being the elected representative of the constituency, he should have taken up these projects with the Centre.
"The construction of these rail projects would have led to creation of jobs for unemployed youth and given a major boost to tourism sector in the state," he said.
Sukkhu claimed Thakur seems to be more interested in cricketing activities than working for development of the people of the constituency.
He criticised the Narendra Modi government for "not fulfilling" the poll promises and said the tall claims of BJP on adopting zero tolerance towards corruption have failed.
He said Modi's claim 'na khaunga na khane dunga' had also proved to be a "jumla" (gimmick) as evenafter two years of coming to power, there was a huge gapbetween what he preached and what he practices.
