Hijam Nutanchandra said at Congress Bhawan here that he left BJP in protest against Prime Minister Narendra Modi's "wrong demonetisation policy" as it is creating a lot of problem to the common people because of "wrong implementation and mismanagement."
Nutanchandra had been elected to Imphal Municipal Corporation in June this year on a BJP ticket.
Manipur PCC president T N Haokip told PTI that he had given his approval to Nutanchandra to join Congress today.
