In a joint statement issued by state BJP spokesman Hemanshu Mishra and media-in-charge Rakesh Sharma, the saffron party asked the chief minister to apologise to the people of the community.
BJP leader Kishan Kapoor, a member of the community, had on Wednesday along with his supporters tried to stop the chief minister's convoy here over the alleged remarks against the Gaddi community.
A clash ensued and three persons were injured. The protesters have alleged that they were lathicharged by the police.
"It is shameful that the CM has not yet apologised to the people of Gaddi community, neither has he suspended the police officers responsible for the lathicharge," it added.
