Accusing Congress of playing politics over the incident related to mid-sea operation by the Indian Coast Guard against a Pakistani boat, the youth wing of the BJP held a protest here.
Activists of Bhartiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) took out a march towards the Congress headquarters and burnt effigies of Congress president Sonia Gandhi and vice president Rahul Gandhi before they were detained by the police.
The protest by the BJP youth wing came a day after Youth Congress activists had tried to march toward BJP headquarters protesting against Centre's decision to change the Land Acquisition Act.
A statement released here by BJYM said that the protest had been organised against the "low level" politics being indulged in by the Congress over the Pakistani boat issue and sought registration of sedition case against Congress leaders.
Attacking Congress, BJYM leader Rahul Kothari alleged that the party was "providing oxygen to Pakistan by openly supporting terrorism".
The BJYM statement further accused senior Congress leaders Digvijay Singh and Rashid Alvi of openly supporting terrorism and claimed that it would oppose such acts.
The statement said that BJYM leaders including Nakul Bhardwaj, Sachin Bhasin, Dinesh Pratap Singh, Nupur Sharma and many others took part in the protest.
Yesterday, activists of Youth Congress had tried to march towards the BJP office at Ashoka Road and were detained by the police.
