The body of a local guide who was among five persons who went missing following flash floods caused by a cloudburst in Lot Nalla near Chaba was today recovered from Kol Dam reservoir here.
Narinder alias Titu (30), was washed away in flash floods caused by cloud burst at Loti Nalla near Chaba, 60 Km from here on May 10 along with four tourists from Nawan Shahar in Punjab.
The body, floating in the reservoir of Kol Dam was spotted by a river rafter near Kali Ghat temple and identified by other rafters, who retrieved the body and informed the police.
Family members of deceased Narender who hails from Pauri Gadwal in Uttrakhand have been informed and are expected to reach tomorrow, Deputy Commissioner, Shimla, Rohan Chand Thakur said, adding, the Tehsildar has been directed to get the post mortem conducted so that the body could be handed over to the relatives.
The massive search operations by police and home guards assisted by NDRF were being conducted since the incident on May 10 and one body was recovered today.
However, the bodies of four tourists from Punjab namely Saran Prit Singh, Harpreet Singh, Avanjot Singh and Amanpreet, who were also washed away along with their vehicle are yet to be traced, Thakur said.
"Recovery of the guide's body has heightened the hopes for tracing the four tourists now as the chances of the bodies buried under the debris are remote and they must have flown into Sutlej River," said Thakur.
