Bollywood tries to kill art: Victor Banerjee

Veteran actor Victor Banerjee, who has acted in several Hindi films, believes Bollywood is akin to "cancer" and tries to kill creativity.
Known for his roles in films like "A Passage to India", "Kalyug", "Joggers' Park" and "My Brother... Nikhil", the 69-year-old actor says Bollywood is nonsensical and has harmed the social and moral values in the society.
"Bollywood is the cancer that has destroyed the country. Whether it is our moral values or social values, everything has been degenerated thanks to the way it is shown in our films. They will justify for sure but it is nonsensical and they are doing it even today," Banerjee said in a group interview here.

"I don't even care about Hindi films. You can't kill art in India as much as Bollywood tries to. We have a history of art and culture and we should preserve that."
Banerjee, who was last seen on the big screen in recently released Rajeev Khandelwal-starrer "Fever", said he is happy to be away from the movies.
Talking about the "value system" of Bollywood, he made a scathing remark against superstar Salman Khan, saying, "Everyone is aware of what he has done. He is getting away scot-free. It is not even a joke anymore... But that's how our value system is.
