"Bomb disposal squad which rushed to the spot, after examination discovered that it was just an alarm clock kept inside a bomb like object", Deputy Commissioner of Police (East Division) Krishna Bhat said.
The squad was rushed to the spot after a complaint by the resident, a businessman who stated that he had received an anonymous call on his landline that a "holy gift" had been left inside his compound.
Bhat said the call was being traced and the culprit would be nabbed "very soon".
