The box, with Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) logo and a warning 'highly confidential', was spotted yesterday by Nandubhau Kakulte, a farmer, at his field in Kikwari Khurd in Satana tehsil in the district, around 70 km from here.
According to police, the box carried instructions that it should be opened by DRDO scientists only and be kept away from electronic items.
"Later in the evening, the box was taken to an isolated place by police personnel. After opening it, it was found that it only contained a metal bell," he added.
Earlier, police questioned around five people in this regard.
