Boy donates Rs 85,000 for saivite temple

A six year old boy of has donated Rs 85,000 to the famous shrine of Tirukameeswarar in neighbouring Villianoor.
The mount was the total contributions he had earned by singing the sacred hymns of various Saivite exponents like Manikavasagar, Sundarar, Sambandar and Appar, at various temples over the last few months.
Tirukameeswarar's father Anandhu, a functionary of Junior Chamber of India in Puducherry told PTI that the boy used to listen to the hymns played through audio cassettes and would memorise them to be presented at the shrines in Puducherry and also in neighbouring Tamil Nadu.
Anandhu said that boy had presented the hymns in as many as eight temples in Tamil Nadu and in a number of temples in Puducherry.

He had through contributions made by devotees to him earned around Rs 85,000 and he handed the entire cash over to the Executive Officer of the temple in Villianoor Manohar on Friday through Welfare and Tourism Minister P Rajavelu.
Tirukameeswarar temple dating back to 12th century had its consecration on January 20 and the boy presented Rs 85,000 to the temple authorities as his gesture towards the part of the expenditure the temple incurred for renovation.
