The incidents took place in the forests under Gangaloor police station area when a joint team comprising the Special Task Force (STF), District Reserve Guard (DRG) and local police was out on a counter-insurgency operation, Bijapur Additional Superintendent of Police Mohit Garg told PTI.
When the patrol party led by SHO Gangaloor Manoj Singh was cordoning off the jungles of Savnar, the ultras detonated the explosion that left the officer injured, he said.
When a rescue team of security personnel was engaged in evacuating Singh, another blast was triggered by the ultras near Palnar village, leaving assistant constable Gullu Vedja injured, he said.
