Cricketer Yuvraj Singh today stressed on the need for detecting cancer at an early stage, saying it paves the way for curing the disease.
Singh said he could be cured as the cancer was detected early.
"Sixty per cent of the cancer patients can be cured, provided the disease is detected at an early stage," he told reporters.
He advised patients and their family members, not to lose hope as the disease was curable and said he, being a cancer survivor, was an example.
He said sometimes prayers play a more vital role in a patient's recovery than medicine.
He said tobacco was one of the causes for cancer and urged people not to consume it.
