Umamaheswari, a private school teacher, was murdered at her house in Peelamedu on August 29 allegedly by her drunkard husband Santhoshkumar suspecting her fidelity. He has since been arrested, police said.
Suspecting the motive behind the murder, relatives, friends and the public in the area gathered at the Police Commissioner's office and submitted a memorandum.
The infidelity theory was created by Santhoshkumar, who married Umamaheswari after being in love, to usurp a house in her name, the memorandum said adding he had harassed her constantly to transfer the house to his name.
