The agency had registered three preliminary inquiries in the matter covering allocations during 2006-09, during 1993-2005 and through Government dispensation route, Minister of State for Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions Jitendra Singh said.
In response to a question, Singh said all the preliminary inquiries have been concluded.

"Field investigation in all these cases has been concluded. Final reports in 16 cases have been filed. 17 cases are pending at different levels of investigation," he said giving details of the first PE.
Giving details of second PE covering 43 coal block allocations during 1993-2005, the Minister said CBI has registered 14 cases in which final reports (charge sheets or closure reports) have been filed in three cases while remaining cases are pending at different levels.
From the third preliminary enquiry looking into allegations of irregularities in allocation of 101 coal blocks through government dispensation route, CBI has registered six cases out of which final report has been filed in one case while five are pending, the minister said.
"A team consisting of three DIGs, five SPs and a number of ASPs/DSPs/Inspectors (investigating officers) has been formed for expeditious conclusion of coal scam investigation," he said.
The Minister said no action has been taken against any officer regarding dereliction of duty in connection with any delay in investigation of coal cases.
