CBI has registered a case of cheating against a former Congress MP for allegedly claiming travelling allowance worth Rs 9.71 lakh on the basis of forged air tickets and boarding passes.
CBI has alleged that Vinay Kumar Pandey, former Lok Sabha MP from Shravasti in Uttar Pradesh, claimed reimbursement for air tickets from Delhi to Port Blair between November 1 and November 3, 2012, sources said.

Members of Parliament are entitled to 34 business class air ticket in a year which lapses at the end of the year.
They said Pandey in order to avoid lapse of tickets allegedly used forged e-tickets and boarding passes to claim the amount.

The agency is probing involvement of other people, public servants also who might have been part of the conspiracy in clearing the bills on the basis of forged documents.
It has registered a case under IPC sections related to criminal conspiracy, cheating and forgery among others.
Pandey could not be contacted as his mobile number given on Lok Sabha and Congress websites was not functioning. An email sent to his given id remained unanswered.
