CCSHAU bags Best Centre award for rapeseed-mustard crops

Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University (CCSHAU) has been conferred the Best Centre Award for its outstanding contribution in research and development of rapeseed-mustard crops.
Disclosing this here today, K S Khokhar, Vice-Chancellor of CCSHAU said at the annual group meeting of All India Rapeseed-Mustard Research Workers in West Bengal, the Best Performing Centre Award for the year 2012-13 was presented to the university by Swapan Kumar Datta, Deputy Director General (Crop Science), Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR).
S S Siwach, Director of Research said All India Coordinated Research Project (AICRP) on Rapeseed-Mustard was in operation in the university since 1967.
Over the years, the university has significantly contributed by developing a number of high yielding and disease varieties of these crops at the national as well as state level besides developing their improved production technologies.
In recent years, RH 0749 variety has been released for timely sown irrigated conditions, while variety RH 0406 for timely sown rainfed conditions of Haryana, Punjab, Delhi and parts of Rajasthan.
Similarly, variety RH 0119 has been released for rainfed areas of Haryana and Yellow Sarson variety YSH 0401 for whole of the country.
Haryana today stood atop in the country in productivity of rapeseed and mustard through adoption of improved technology of these crops, he said.
