With drought situation being witnessed in several regions of Maharashtra, the Centre today promised to do whatever it can if the rain fails.
"Is drought in our hands? If there is God's mercy, it will rain. If it doesn't then whatever works the government needs to do will be done," Union Urban Development Minister Venkaiah Naidu said.
"The state recommends compensation and then a committee sits and we release funds, it is a continuous process," he added.
The comments came as drought conditions are being witnessed in several parts of Maharashtra like Latur district in Marathwada region.
