Chana rises 0.87% in futures trade on uptick in demand

Amid pick up in demand at domestic spot market and restricted supplies from producing regions, chana prices traded higher by 0.87 per cent to Rs 4965 per quintal in futures trade today.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, chana for delivery in far-month May rose by Rs 43 or 0.87 per cent to Rs 4,965 per quintal with an open interest of 43,860 lots.
Similarly, the commodity for delivery in April contracts was trading higher by Rs 41, or 0.83 per cent to Rs 4,971 per quintal in 7,100 lots.
Analysts said besides surging demand in the spot market, restricted supplies from producing belts mainly pushed up chana prices at futures trade.
