The CID today filed charge sheet against six accused in the brutal rape and murder of a college student at Kamduni in North 24 Parganas district.
The 147-page charge-sheet was filed in the court of Ishani Chakraborty, Chief Judicial Magistrate of Barasat, 21 days after the body of the victim was found on June 8.
The charge-sheet was filed without the report of the Central Forensic Science Laboratory.
Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, during her visit to Kamduni on June 17, had promised that the charge-sheet would be filed within 15 days.
The police would file an additional charge sheet after the forensic report was available.
The Kamduni rape and murder had caused a public outcry and even the chief minister had faced angry protests by villagers during her visit to Kamduni.
